My name is Jackson Hadley. I’m a student at Brigham Young University studying public relations. I chose this major because I believe public relations can be a force for good in the world. At its root, public relations is communication, and through effective communication, businesses serve their customers better, collaboration flourishes, and conflicts are resolved.
The days of one-way marketing are over. Brand messages used to be delivered via mass media—impersonal and with little opportunity for feedback. Now, thanks to social media and brand journalism, messages can thrive in an environment more akin to people talking around a campfire. People connect by sharing stories and opinions, and organizations can be part of the conversation just as naturally as any of their friends.
